Imphal Free Press scribe Jimmy Leivon resigns from AMWJU standing committee

Imphal Free Press journalist, Leivon Jimmy Lamkang aka Jimmy Leivon has tendered his resignation from the standing committee of the All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) today. His resignation came before the allocation of posts of the standing committee which were distributed today morning.
The newly elected president and the committee have selected Soubam Bokuljaoba from Sangai Express as vice-president. General secretary’s post has been conferred to Khwairakpam Naoba of IS TV, Leimapokpam Sanjitkumar has been selected as treasurer.
Joint secretary has been given to Longjam Arishrona of People’s Chronicle while Khangembam Shanker Singh of Sanaleibak has been made Press Club secretary.
Yumlembam Okendrajit Luwang of DY 365 is made publicity secretary. Secretary administration has been given to Khundrakpam Jyotindro Singh of Impact TV.
The official handing over of posts had no arguments and all the posts were filled up with consent from the standing committee members and there were no challenges for votes to be conducted among the standing committee members who vied for a common post.
President, Bijoy Kakchingtabam in his power to nominate two members, have selected Asem Babycha from Hueiyen Lanpao and Laishram Pritam Singh from Lamjingba Times as his nominees.
Regarding Jimmy Leivon’s resignation, he has addressed the president that he felt as per his ethical principle, he would be more of a hindrance to the team spirit of the present standing committee.
He wrote “I, in the larger interest of AMWJU, which is my parent Union and for which I have the utmost regard and reverence wish the president and his standing committee all the best and firmly believe that they will do justice to each and every member of the Union in future. I wish your presidency all the best.” he wrote in his letter of resignation.
It may be mentioned that Jimmy had got maximum number of votes totalling at 202 votes among his male counterparts who contested for the AMWJU election.
