In our last edition we have published about training as career. In this edition we are publishing more information related to same. We talk more about soft skills when it comes to training, so we need to know little more about soft skills.
Soft skills are a combination of people skills, social skills, communication skills, character traits, attitudes, career attributes, social intelligence and emotional intelligence quotients among others that enable people to effectively navigate their environment, work well with others, perform well, and achieve their goals with complementing hard skills.
The Collins English Dictionary defines the term “soft skills” as “desirable qualities for certain forms of employment that do not depend on acquired knowledge: they include common sense, the ability to deal with people, and a positive flexible attitude Before we train others we must learn about the skills which are needed and must use and practice them .
There are demands for trainers or one can get them associated with this professions. The scopes are with corporate specially all those who deal with human resources or marketing like insurance companies. Most of the corporate also organizes trainings for the employees.
Trainers are more demanded in social organisations as they conduct capacity building programme with government. Some of the Government departments like National Health Mission, Rashtriya MAdhyamik Siksha Abhiyan , Sarba Sikhsa Abhiyaan, Tourism Department, Social Welfare Department, etc conduct many training programs for its staff for progress and efficiency.
There are many agencies of United Nations like United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) conducts training on regular basis related to their programme.
There are many companies who are focusing on training and they provide services to their clients. These companies need trainers on contract basis or freelance basis. There are advertisements seen in newspapers or other places regarding the requirements of god trainers. A good trainer could be a good motivator too who could motivate and inspire others.
There is demand for training professionals in Manipur and North East apart from other places. As we do not have many trained people who can train so most of the times resource people are invited form other parts of the country to impart training.
Young people who are interested to become trainer must be skilled enough in networking with different agencies who needs trainers. One must brand him or her as a good trainer to get more assignment or regular basis. It is always advisable to aspirants to attend some training programme and learn the skills for their own professional growth.
Aspirants may decide on whether they prefer to be a corporate trainer or trainer related to development fields. Skills needed are same but people who want to be trainer in social issues or related to development work should have more passion about it as it is not only to earn money but also contribute in social change.
Perspectives of different trainers may be different as corporate trainer would impart training for the growth of the staff who can contribute for more earning and productivity.
On the other hand trainers who conducts programme for NGOs or Non Profit Organization should keep in mind that they are focusing on social change. Career as trainer is booming and our students may plan to become good trainer and contribute towards development.
