Times of India | TNN | Dec 22, 2011, 11.13PM IST
Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh has told the state assembly that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and home minister P Chidambaram had already made it clear that there was no proposal from the Centre for a supra state body for the Nagas in the northeast.
Addressing a huge public meeting at Kangla fort in Imphal on December 3, the PM said that there was no supra-state proposal and the Centre was committed to Manipur's territorial integrity.
A joint statement issued by the All Manipur United Clubs' Organization (AMUCO) and United Committee Manipur (UCM) asked the state government to reaffirm its decision to safeguard Manipur's territorial integrity and adopt a firm resolution not to allow any supra state body to function in Manipur during the ongoing Assembly session.
