I could have won a medal at Rio: Mary
The Telegraph | Andrew W. Lyngdoh | Shillong, Sept. 6:
Boxing champion M.C. Mary Kom today said she could have brought home a medal from the Rio Olympics had she qualified for the Summer Games. The Rajya Sabha parliamentarian, who was here to attend a felicitation programme at the North Eastern Hill University (Nehu), said there was more to her life than what was portrayed though her biopic.
"If I went (to the Rio Olympics), then definitely I would have come with a medal," she said as loud applause reverberated in the packed hall on the Nehu campus. However, she said women boxers were "unlucky" as they had only two qualifying tournaments whereas there were many for men.
