Prelims to be organized in India on July 15, Finale during Techniche on August 30 - September 2, 2018
June 28, 2018; Guwahati: Technothlon - The Ultimate Test of Logic is a national level examination conducted by the student fraternity of IIT Guwahati as a part of Techniche.
The aim of Technothlon has always been to provide students with a platform where they can test their 'out-of-the-box’ thinking skills. Yet, Technothlon has always been in the mode of offline examination limited to the national boundaries.
For the very first time in the history of Technothlon and Techniche, Technothlon Prelims were organized in UAE. This gave Technothlon and Techniche global attention and would establish links for upcoming years.
It is a moment of pride for the whole country, that an international school championship organized by the student fraternity of IIT Guwahati more than a decade ago, have reached an international standard.
On Monday, 25 June, the prelim of Technothlon was conducted in Abu Dhabi, UAE through ONLINE mode among 100+ students of Sunrise English Private School. The Prelims of Technothlon in India is scheduled for 15th July 2018.
The winners of the prelims will be invited to the IIT Guwahati campus for the Mains during Techniche from 30th August to 2nd September 2018, where they will contest in more challenging rounds, trying to bag the championship.
There are various prizes for the winning teams from each squad. In addition the winners of Technothlon will win a guided trip to NASA.
“When we started Techniche'18 back in October, we head had a discussion to go for branding internationally not just by our contacts but also through mailings and callings to schools that we thought could probably agree. To be frank, back then we didn't really have high hopes of happening anything big internationally. It makes me proud that we guys would be the future of this endeavour and we are certain that we’ll take this to altogether new level”, says Pratyay Nigam, Events Coordinator, Techniche 2018.
Conducted in 2 phases - Prelims and Mains, Technothlon '17 witnessed a huge participation from over 500 centres all over the nation. The students are divided into 2 squads: Juniors Squad - comprising of 9th and 10th standard students and Hauts Squad - comprising of 11th and 12th standard students (as on 15th July 2018), who get separate question papers, set by the students of IIT Guwahati.
The paper is totally different from that of any other competitive examination; being based solely on logic, analytical ability, and practical observations and involving no academic syllabus. The paper is to be attempted jointly by a team of 2.
The prelims thus require no initial preparation - just the sheer spontaneity and out-of-the-box thinking capability of the candidates are tested. The top 50 teams from each squad are invited for the next round - Mains which is held during Techniche at IIT Guwahati.
