Research Methodology in Social Sciences
November 4 - 13, 2013

One of the mandates of the ICSSR North Eastern Regional Centre is to promote, encourage, assist and coordinate social science research in the North-Eastern region of India. In this regard the Centre has organized workshops and training programmes in the past years. It had also organized training programmes on imparting skills in the usage of SPSS package for the research scholars and the faculty members in the social science discipline. These programmes has been widely appreciated by the scholars. There is a growing demand to organize similar exercise from many scholars of North East.

Although research in North-East India is proliferating in all the social science discipline rapidly, yet it has been observed the quality of the research done on North-East by the scholars of this region is far behind the expectation. In this regard to bridge the gap and also to improve the quality of the research in the social science discipline in this region, ICSSR North Eastern Regional Centre would like to organize a ten- day training programme mainly for the registered doctoral scholars and the faculty members who are guiding the research scholars at the Ph.D. level on the following themes:

Preparation of research proposal – giving basic training how to conceive a sound research proposal
Field work training
Data Processing and analysis – techniques – how to read the data and how to interpret the data, etc.
Preparation of the report – how to write the final research report, etc.
Skill on Imparting SPSS

PARTICIPANTS:
The programme is intended for:
All those pursuing their doctoral research and college or university teachers or members of recognized research institutions, who are in to social science research of the North Eastern Region will be eligible to apply for this course.

VENUE:
ICSSR North Eastern Regional Centre complex, NEHU Campus, Shillong – 793 022

DURATION:
The course duration will be for 10 days (November 4 - 13, 2013)

FOOD & LODGING:
The ICSSR will provide free food and lodging facility to the outstation participants at the ICSSR-NERC Guesthouse, NEHU Campus, Shillong.

COURSE FEE:
The training workshop is funded by ICSSR. However, a modest of Rs. 500/- will be charged as registration fee from the participants.
