IBSD signs MOU with Bhubaneswar based ILS to develop partnership programme for North East

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal and Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar today signed an MOU for undertaking joint collaborative research and development programmes for sustainable management of bioresources.
IBSD and ILS are both autonomous institutions of the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The collaboration between these two institutions aims to promote exchange of scientists and students between the two institutions, facilitate exposure visits of rural and tribal communities of North East region and Odisha, and undertake cutting edge scientific research in area of biotechnology for conservation and value addition to the bio resources of the respective regions.
This initiative will also focus on developing value added products based on the traditional knowledge system of the communities. To achieve this, an IBSD-ILS Partnership Centre will be established soon.
The agreement was signed at Bhubaneswar by Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director, IBSD and Dr. Ajay Parida, Director, ILS in the presence of a large gathering of scientists, students and staff of ILS .
The partnership in the coming years aims to include other scientific institutions in the region, said Dr. Prof. Sahoo and expressed confidence that this partnership will be successful in developing programmes for sustainable development in the region and will largely benefit the communities largely dependent on use of biological resources for the benefit of society. While addressing the crowd ,Professor Sahoo said IBSD has some very good facilities and manpower so as ILS. If both can join hands this can create wonders.
