Assam Tribune | New Delhi, Nov 23
In a significant development, a Parliamentary panel has summoned Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and Centre’s interlocutor for Naga talks RN Ravi on November 27 to clarify on the framework agreement signed by the Centre with the NSCN(I-M) in 2015.According to reports, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Home Affairs, headed by P Chidambaram, “wants clarity” about the framework agreement that has been kept under tight wraps.
The report said that the panel met earlier to discuss the security situation in the northeastern states and the Naga peace deal is a crucial aspect. “We have asked Ravi to appear before the panel and tell us the status of the peace deal, if any. It has been three years since it was signed but we have not seen any results,” an MP was quoted as saying.
