In this modern era of hi-tech and fast lifestyle, men are indulging in
different kinds of stress, which disturb the harmony of mind and consequently the body. The cumulative effects of the stress of the
individuals give harmful effects to the society .
It is important to aware about stress and the necessary solution to combat stress. Stress can be
defined as any physical or psychological event that has a potential treat to physical or emotional
well being of an individual.
According to the definition of Oxford Dictionary stress is defined as an emotional or mental pressure .
There are multiple sources of stress in our day to day life, it differs from person to person .whatever the
causes of stress ,the harmful effects stress give is the same.
The symptom of stress can be broadly discuss into three categories:-
Physical symptom –Disturbance of sleep ,constipation, eating disorder,fatigue,high blood pressure, irregular heart beat,
suppression of immune system ,back pain, skin problem etc.
Emotional symptom – nervousness,anxiety,irritability,frustration,overreaction ,lack of
memory and concentration.
Relational symptom – increased argument, isolation from social activities, conflict with co-workers, employers, frequent job changes.
Our body system has its own set of battalion to fight stress. It perform its task by triggering a series of chemical chain reaction
this vital defense mechanism trigger the release of hormone of brain that is the neurotransmitter that affects every organs and the system of the
body.
Some of the neurotransmitter which have very powerful influence on mood of the person are serotonin,dopamine,adrenaline ,noradrenaline
etc. these neurotransmitter play a vital role to cope up stress in the short term , but in case of chronic
cases these hormone undermine our health , causes blood clotting and increases blood cholesterol level and thereby enhance the risk of many
diseases as heart diseases ,weaken the immune system and susceptible to many infectious diseases like cold and flu.
Let’s see some of the antidote to cope up stress other than antidepressant drugs which has many harmful side effects.
As the saying goes “to the problem of your life you are the only solution” , so to give an effective response to stress, the major answer lies in
the person per se.. The studies show that the attitude of the person is a powerful tool to defend stress.
Healing from inside is much more effective than from outside .the person who is optimistic in his life combat
stress more effectively than the person who is not .Studies have shown that patients having a positive attitude seems to correlate with an
increased ability of the immune system in fighting disease wheres patient exhibited fear takes a longer healing time.
It also shows the correlation of the number of lymphocytes and the patient level of optimism. So being
optimistic in our outlook toward life can work as a wonderful medicine to lead a peaceful life.
The social environments also play a major role to help in reducing stress. a person who has good social support web like supporting family and
friends has shown to effectively able to fight stress .
One more antidote that reduce stress is relaxation response. There are many activities that can trigger the relaxation response such as
exercise ,deep breathing ,meditation, listening to shooting music, laughing etc.
So, by applying the above mentioned methods we can to try to lead a better life with a smile on our face
