Hard Times
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
Is it the hard times I live in
Is it the milieu
The world is offended
And its new hiding place not found?
The times are full of images and illusions
And here in this place
My world has hidden
Behind these false identities.
I have been living
In the lengthened shadow of a moment,
A moment when I saw
The beauty of a world without me.
It was a beautiful world
The gentle breeze moved through the leaves
And when I breathed the air,
It smelt sweet
And life was meaningful.
The aura of the beauty plunged
All my likes and dislikes
Sorrows and happiness
Into insignificance, utter insignificance.
Love, human relationship and death
All took on a different hue
From the moment of truth.
Like a flash of lightning
It flashed in the sky of my life
And was a second birth for me.
What I live for is
For the loss of the sense of self
In my intimacy with
And participation in a reality
A strange objectivity in love
And also in life.
