Guru Kirtana Seva observed
The XXIII Guru Kirtana Seva -2016, the Festival of Nata Sankirtana, was observed today at the Maharaja Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound, Imphal. The event was organised by Gulapi Nata Sankirtana Academy, Kwakeithel Nganapi Thong Mapal, Imphal.
Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam; Commisioner , IPR & Works, K. Radhakumar Singh and renowned culturalist Aribam Chitreshwor Sharma were present at the occasion as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam stated that Manipur is a culturally unique place. And the youth of the state should take a vital role in preserving and promoting our unique culture.
The Deputy Chief Minister further stated that the present government is serious regarding the promotion of the rich culture of the state, and Manipur University of Culture, Manipur State Film Institute, etc., are the outcome of such sincere efforts of the government.
Gaikhangam also stated that we need to introspect and learn from our elders to preserve and popularise our own culture. Gaikhangam appreciated the noble act of Gulapi Nata Sankirtana Academy to organise such a event.
Commissioner, IPR & Works, K. Radhakumar Singh stated that the unique culture of Manipur can showcase our unique identity to the world. Today’s Guru Kirtana Seva is a perfect example of the Dakshina of the Guru-shisha Prarampara. Nata Sankirtana, which has been included in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage list, is a unique art form of its own.
During the function Guru Herachandra Ningsing Mana was conferred to Yumnam Jatra Singh. The award was received by his son on his behalf since the ailing Guru is presently on treatment at a local hospital.
