Greed for Power and Money

Let's go back to an article which appeared in Sep 07, in some of the local newspapers of North East India. The title goes like this 'Grenade planted at Manipur Government's official residence'.
'Some unidentified persons left a hand grenade at Manipur State AID's Control Society's Project Director's residence this morning.
Some unidentified persons came to residence at around 7:40 am today and handed over a grenade to one of my nephews without saying anything project director Dr. T. R. Kom said. The reason behind the same is yet to be established.'

Many who read across this article might be wondering why bring up this issue again when it's already more than 9 months since the incident occurred.
Aren't there many issues to be discussed and tackled. This may be correctly said.
But what many people in Manipur don't know or just pretend not to realize is that in this issue lies many of the problems which is hindering the development of the erstwhile ' Switzerland of the East' and made it a land of horror and terror.
This especially applies to the politicians who pockets and stomachs are bulging with ill gotten gains and blood money.
Right after the incident happened, there were some sit-in protests and condemnation from many fronts, but till now there has been no update as to who was actually behind this ghastly act (the mastermind) and the right hand of the mastermind.
And in such a case no arrests has been made so far.
I wonder how the state government maintains to keep it's face and how the elected representatives have the courage to campaign for elections every time, with no instances to support their sweet promises which just vanishes into thin air right after election results are declared.
One thing unique about politicians in this state-politicians in other states at least get involved in the citizen's welfare before elections begin.
In Manipur they don't even care about this, so how do we expect them to work for the citizens after they are elected? This is a simple case of applying common sense.
I have seen a lot many innocent people being harassed day in and day out for no fault of theirs, politicians mire them in a muck of controversy, playing their politics of power at the expense of these innocent few and touting their guns at them.
And then the people who really deserve to be put behind bars and tortured to death just go scot-free and live a carefree life knowing that no harm will come to them whatever they do, being sheltered under the supreme cover of the Politicians and some so called important people or guardians of the State.
The state of Manipur, where I was born and brought up and where I have spent a significant part of my developing years, was indeed a beautiful place-endowed with all the natural beauty of hills, trees, flowers and last but not the least a pleasant climate.
Whenever I go home for vacations, I expect to see a Manipur which has changed day by day for the better but the exact opposite is what brings me back to reality.
Recently when I went home, I could see that there were no more roads(forget pucca, tar roads). Such is the state of Manipur.
Beautiful and peaceful it was but we have made it a battle ground, an Armageddon killing each other in the name of community and religion.
The real factor behind these killings are not being community and religion but just a greed for power and money.
