Grabbing the attention of consumers Advertisement as a career
- The Sangai Express Editorial :: June 08 2015 -
Grabbing the attention of the consumers. This must be an important agenda behind all the advertisement blitzkriegs that have been unleashed on the people for decades.
Give me red; Fast to cook, good to eat; Only Vimal and numerous other catchy slogans come to mind whenever one talks about advertisement.
Clearly the consumers of today are spoilt for choices and goods producers and advertisement agencies must be working overtime to catch the imagination of the public and hardsell their products.
Getting the attention of the public. This is something which is common to all products and no efforts have been spared to woo the consumers of Manipur too.
Look at the mass media and this should drive home certain significant points.
So from the consumable goods to automobiles to anything that are produced to meet the needs of the people, nothing is left to chance to win over the confidence of the public.
Education too or rather educational institutions such as schools, colleges, professional colleges including tutorial centres have gone overboard to create a niche in the market and nowhere is this more visible than the daily newspapers in Manipur.
The choice is today clearly vast, and it is here that everyone need to be on their toes and not blindly follow the catchy slogans and phrases that are trotted out by different advertisement agencies to hardsell a product.
This is all that more important when it comes to choosing or deciding on an educational institution for the young students.
The people really have nothing much to lose in double checking any institution that offers the ‘best’ to the young students.
It is that time of the year when parents, guardians and the students themselves have to decide which educational institution to choose for their higher studies.
Nothing wrong in hardselling oneself to the public for it stands that any product or endeavour should receive public acceptance and this is where the onus of zeroing in on the best option lies with the public.
This is where education is needed for the public to make wise and informed choices.
Important to note too that all the catchy slogans and attention grabbing shots are the brainchild of professionals, people who are there to package a product.
No wonder it is said that the quality of a product is as important as the packaging.
At the moment, the idea of advertisement as a career option is yet to catch the popular imagination of the people in Manipur and this is where parents, guardians and the young students need to turn their attention to.
The youngsters of Manipur have more than once demonstrated that they do not lack creativity and are willing to work hard.
This is where an orientation of the elders is needed to encourage their youngsters to study the option of taking up advertisement as a career option.
Perhaps the bigger business houses in Manipur may take the lead and start training youngsters the art of selling their products or goods.
