Governor for Naga talks panel
The Telegraph | Kohima, Nov. 22:
Nagaland governor P.B. Acharya has mooted a “civil committee” to give a fresh impetus to the ongoing peace process between the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) led by Isak Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah.
Acharya, however, echoed the Union government that any solution would be within the ambit of the Constitution. But while the NSCN (I-M) has climbed down from the demand of sovereignty to one of federal relationship, it is still not willing to chalk out a truce within the framework of the Constitution, it is learnt. The onus now lies with the Union government as it has ruled out integration of contiguous Naga areas, the core demand of the NSCN (I-M).
