Good Old Days
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
I did not wake up one fine morning
And found myself a king
Wearing a crown of gold.
I toiled up the heights in the burning sun;
I sweated buckets
And here I am now
Looking back in wonder.
It was my tears
Not a kind fate
That defined my place in the cosmos.
Riding the crest of time
Apparently static
I looked back and watched
The hero following
The twists and turns of the road,
And the broad outline of the story
Unfolding before my eyes.
One could trace the contours
Of the broad face of life.
I have a story to tell
And my life is a story.
I am what I am now
And what I am now
Had been conceived
In the womb of time.
Even this birth this life
Was apparently conceived
In a timeless and unlocalized reality
Beyond me.
I fell in love with one
Who shook her head
With long, flowing locks
In my youth
And it was like stepping back in time.
