Shrimati Gangmei Aluna Kabuini is born on March 1, 1946 at Keishamthong Kabui Khul, Imphal.
She is born to Gangmei Gaithoirung Kabui and Gangmei Athoina Kabuini.
She began learning Kabui Naga dance, Kabui cultural song and modern song from the tender age of 8.
Aluna Kabuini learned Kabui dance and traditional songs under the guidance of Gangmei Makugangpu Kabui, Remei Abungbam Kabui, Kamei Guigangpu, Gangmei Sanaru respectively.
Moreover she learned Ras dance, Lai Haraoba Dance, and Maibi dance from Guru Maisnam Amubi Singh, Guru Haobam Tomba Singh, Thiyam Tarunkumar Singh, Hidangmayum Thambal Sharma, and Laimayum Thambalngoubi Devi.
And Aluna Kabuini act in more than 10 short plays produced by Keishamthong Kabui Naga Dance and Drama Centre, Imphal and all of them was aired at All India Radio Imphal.
For her contribution in the field, she got the scholarship awarded by Department of Culture, Government of India.
She took part in various festivals held in countries like Washington DC, Canada, Mexico, London, France, Germany and New York respectively.
Also she authored a book titled "Kabui Theory and Songs".
She was honoured with Manipur State Kala Akademi Award for Tribal Dance(2001-2002), and Sangeet Natak Academy Award for Tribal Kabui Dance(2015-2016).
Currently Aluna Kabuini is an executive member of Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal as well as a member of the Advisory Committee of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
In recognition of her contribution to Kabui Folk Dances, Manipuri Sahitya Academy, on their 82nd Annual General Conference, conferred her the Nrityabhusan(Kabui Folk Dance) title.
