From the Window
- Deep from the Soul -
K. Radhakumar *
The young and the green leaves are moving
In the breeze.
The sky spreads out,
The heat of the day is greying
And getting old.
The young leaves
On an old banyan tree
Growing near the junction of two roads
In the heart of the city
And unmindful of black metalled roads
The collective sound of vehicles
As busy as a bee –
Ah, what a relief!
The day’s work is done
But it is no time to take rest;
Beyond lies a long and beautiful night.
