Four DB University Students Go to University of Arkansas, USA
GUWAHATI
Four students of Assam Don Bosco University - Shraddhanjoli Bhadra, Barasha Hiloidhari, Tavleen Kaur and Manas Pratim Mahanta - will leave on 14 August for a year of study at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, USA, as part of the 'Student Exchange Programme' between the two universities.
The students have just completed four semesters of B. Tech in Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics and Computer Science Engineering. They will complete the 5th and 6th semesters in Arkansas, without having to pay the university fees of Arkansas.
An MoU was signed on 13 March 2012 between Don Bosco University, represented by the Vice Chancellor Fr. Stephen Mavely and the University of Arkansas, represented by Dr. Jerry G. Stevenson, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Extended Programmes. The MoU seeks to promote educational and cultural cooperation in the areas of education, research and exchange.
Speaking of the Exchange Programme Dr. Stephen Mavely observed, "This is an exciting time to be developing links with the universities abroad, and we are happy that we have found new avenues that would provide best of platforms for our students." He added that it is possible for the students to complete their 7th and 8th semesters too at the University of Arkansas on fulfilling certain formalities.
Mr. Kasi Nath Hazarika, in charge of the Incubation Centre of the University, is making the arrangements for the students' travel and stay abroad. He observed, "Our students will have a remarkable exposure as they will be opened to new culture and environment, and we are very pleased to undertake such programmes."
