Well educated. An evangelist with a Bachelor's degree in Theology from the United States of America.
Coming from a Christian background, with the father a Missionary in a Church. Seen the world and worked with different Evangelical missions. The CV is impressive.
This is John Jacob, the man at the centre of the alleged child abuse cases at a Jaipur Home. As things stand today, the impressive CV seems to have turned into the proverbial light that draws the moth to its death.
A man of God, preaching from the pulpit of the Church and comes the icing on the cake, promises of free education and a HOME to take care of children from poor families. The setting is ideal.
Poverty. An impoverished people but people, correction, parents and guardians who slog on and on, to ensure a better future for their children.
And here comes a man, deemed to be a man of God, promising what could only be a dream-free education and a HOME to take care of their children.
Jacob John would surely go down as a man who knew how to optimise his CV and in the process unleash the demon inside him.
These observations are based on the findings of the investigations conducted by The Sangai Express, an investigation compelled by the need to furnish the profile of a man who has managed to give a more sinister design or definition to what is called exploitation of the poor and impoverished families.
The medical tests conducted on the children say something very significant. Or are medical tests conducted to be distorted at the end of the day ? Time will tell, but as things stand today, the medical report suggests that the children were subjected to sexual exploitations.
Administering drugs, in this case ZIFI-100 tablets, to arouse sexual desire in the young girls, suggest a pre-meditated move to fulfil his carnal lust.
It would be a pleasure if any readers of The Sangai Express can enlighten others on what ZIFI-100 tablets exactly does.
A Viagra version for the females ? Unlikely, as the world has not yet heard of such a drug being manufactured. The police investigating the case should take note of this.
Not yet jumping the gun or drawing a conclusion, but the findings, as recorded in the medical tests, should not be swept aside.
It was not only the children who were subjected to the perverted side of the man. Even female staff employed at the Home were subjected to similar treatment.
On one hand it can be an open and shut case while on the other hand Jacob John could turn out to be a hard nut to crack. Building a strong case, is then what is needed.
The first step perhaps would be to gain the confidence and trust of the 'victims', especially the staff who were allegedly forced to submit to his sexual advances.
The civil society organisations should join hands and not leave it only to the few crusaders to ensure that justice is delivered and things are taken to its logical conclusion.
The Jaipur Home case should also be an eye opener to the Government, the babudom. Despite the numerous flagship programmes taken up, despite the poverty alleviation programmes initiated, despite the much touted and publicised Right to Education Act, which makes education free and compulsory upto Class VIII, the provisions extended to the impoverished families through the Public Distribution System, there are still many, who have not benefited from these noble programmes taken up.
The failure of these programmes is writ large on the Jaipur Home story. Poverty, ignorance and 'devils' in the garb of men of God provides the perfect canvass to script stories such as the Grace Home, Jaipur and give birth to a man like Jacob John.
