First Himalayan Conclave - 2015
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), a National Institute under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in association with Department of Botany, University of Delhi , HESCO, Dehradun and Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology IHBT(CSIR), Palampur is organizing the “First Himalayan Conclave - 2015” during September 9-10, 2015 at University of Delhi. You are aware that Himalayas have been the soul of the world by virtue of it’s cultural, ecological and economical values, but unfortunately the importance of Himalayas and ecosystem services was underestimated.
Deterioration of Himalayas due to inadequate attention has threatened our Life Supporting Resources. Status of forest, water, air and soil has become alarmingly grim. Himalayan resources have been shrinking fast and ultimate burnt has to be born by each one of us. Recent Natural Calamities in Uttarakhand, Kashmir and Nepal are some of the most recent examples, which is still fresh in our memory. Therefore, it is high time to have a debate and in depth deliberations on status and health of Himalaya. How we can join hands to serve the Himalayas and it’s communities and the world at large.
Professor K.Vijayaraghavan, Secretary, Government of India, Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi will be the Chief Guest and inaugurate the Function on September 9,2015 at 10.30 AM at Conference Centre ,University of Delhi which will be followed by lectures, deliberation and discussions by over 300 participants from different parts of the country.
