6-day festival of MIFF award winning films commences
The 6-day festival of MIFF (Mumbai International Film Festival) award winning films organized by the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Department of Information & Public Relations, Government of Manipur, Manipur State Film Development Society and Film Society of Manipur kicks off today at State Information Centre, Palace Gate,Imphal.
National Filmfare Awardee for best critic, Shri R. K. Bidur inaugurated the Festival by highlighting that the festival is a golden opportunity to extract the indepth “Man ki Baat” of a film and produce the best possible outcome with further analysis from all angles.
Internationally acclaimed documentary English film Shivendra Singh Dungarpur’s - The Immortals , Ingo Putze’s Solo Finale (USA) and Snigdha Banerjee’s Nuptial Memoirs were screened today. The Immortals is a film that depicts the paradox of India’s relationship with cinema: the romance and the power, the neglect and the worship.
Polish film The Queen of Silence by Agnieszka Zwiefka, a story about a 10-year-old girl Denisa who is an outcast in many ways, will be screened tomorrow and film maker Borun Thokchom will brief the various aspects of the film.
Director of DIPR Shri Meghachandra Kongbam appreciated the audience present today & made a special mention of The Immortals’ director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, a patron of the British Film Institute, as not only a famous Indian filmmaker and producer but also a reputed film archivist and restorer. He requested the audience to participate in reviewing the films after watching the screenings by discussing the various elements of the film with the experts.
