REACH launches media fellowship for local language journalists
- Last Date :: 31 May 2010 -
REACH, a Chennai-based non-profit centre dedicated to the fight against TB has announced the REACH Lilly MDR-TB Partnership Media Fellowships. This programme will provide journalists from local language newspapers across India with support to undertake in-depth analysis of various aspects of TB. The Fellowships are intended to encourage journalists to explore TB as a critical public health concern in India, by identifying and developing stories that remain untold.
India bears one-fifth of the world’s global TB burden; in addition, there is growing disposition to multi-drug resistance, increasing public health costs. All of this is compounded by a general lack of awareness of TB and its consequences – most of all, that TB is completely curable. Informed and accurate journalism can have a significant impact on public understanding and perception of tuberculosis.
Interested journalists can contact REACH at 0091-9791017202 or email [email protected]. Completed applications must be submitted by 31 May.
