Media Fellowships For Print, Radio And Television Journalists

MEDIA FELLOWSHIPS FOR PRINT, RADIO AND TELEVISION JOURNALISTS
Panos Institute South Asia invites print/web, radio and television journalists to apply for a fellowship to research conflict-related and climate change issues in Northeast India.
On Conflict reporting Three (3) print/web media; two (2) radio; and one (1) Television fellowship will be awarded.
On Climate Change reporting one (1) print/web media fellowship will be awarded.
The Fellowship will run from September 2009- June 2010. Selected Fellows will be provided editorial support by an advisory panel comprising of senior journalists and researchers. They will also be provided financial support for travel and research.
Based on their investigative work, selected Fellows must produce (between September 2009-June 2010):
- At least five 1,000-word feature stories to be published in quality publications/websites (for print/web fellowship)
- At least five short features for radio (for radio fellowship)
- A documentary or 3-5 short features to be telecasted (for TV fellowship)One 5,000-word in-depth report per fellowship. These reports may be edited and included in a book to be published later by Panos. Radio and TV journalists may submit a written script.
- A draft proposal for the fellowship
- Curriculum vitae
- Up to five samples of published/broadcasted/webcasted work on the proposed theme
- A brief personal statement on why they consider themselves as suitable candidates (not exceeding 500 words in English)
- Two references from persons who have known the applicant professionally for at least one year.
This fellowship is open only to people who would write reports based on primary field research in the Northeast.
