FIT India Movement Launch at ADBU
ADBU and SRF Foundation partner to participate in the FIT India Movement Launch
Over 3000 faculty and students from four schools of the Assam Don Bosco University participated in the FIT India Movement Launch Day observed in the University. The grand event was launched by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
Special assemblies were led by Dr. Pallav Gogoi, Ms. Naphisabet S. Laitthma and Mr. Bhaskaryjyoti Deka, Members of the ADBU NSS Cell & ADBU Fitness Club to observe the launch day. Apart from motivating everyone to do the pledged 10,000 steps every day, Ms. Laitthma and Mr. Deka demonstrated the “Burpee” exercise— a full-body, strength training exercise and spoke about its manifold benefits.
In the meantime, the ADBU NSS Cell and the SRF Foundation facilitated the participation of Kamarkuchi Junior Basic School, Kahikuchi L.P. School, and Pub-Dimoria M. E. School in the launch of the FIT India Movement by Shri Narendra Modi, Honourable Prime Minister of India.
Over 350 teachers and children got the opportunity to watch the telecast of the Launch Ceremony and take the pledge administered by the Prime Minister. Speaking after the launch ceremony at Kamarkuchi Junior Basic School, Shri Prashanta Jagannath, Block Elementary Education Officer, Dimoria Development Block motivated the children and the teachers to heed the wisdom and follow the instructions of the Prime Minister.
He thanked the SRF Foundation and Assam Don Bosco University for the commendable work carried out to support and augment the efforts of the government in providing quality education to all children.

“The collaborative effort of the SRF Foundation and the Assam Don Bosco University has made it possible to extend technical support needed to arrange the audio-visual and public address systems required for such an event,” said Phungkha Basumatary, Programme Coordinator of the SRF Foundation. “Our activity has brought smiles and excitement among the young children. And this is the best platform for us to engage in social services for community development,” said Ms. Kintuphaki T. Dkhar, Mr. Rejoice Daimari, Ms. Philaran Ha, Mr. Isamngambe and Ms. Dafini Kharmalki, the ADBU NSS Volunteers organising the event.
The Assam Don Bosco University has been engaging in a plethora of community development projects in the villages of the Dimoria Development Block, targeting child development in partnership with the anganwadi centers, providing drinking water facilities through solar-powered water purifiers, educational support services for high-school going children, tech-literacy, and capacity building of school teachers among others.
Similarly, the SRF Foundation currently working in the field of capacity enhancement, digital capacitating of schools, and infrastructural upgradation of schools: science laboratories, libraries, drinking water provision, sports and play-materials.
It may be mentioned here that the Assam Don Bosco University and the SRF Foundation have an MoU to facilitate students’ learning, knowledge sharing, and community engagement in Dimoria Development Block, Sonapur.
