Enjoy the Dance
Bienhome Muivah *
I am not a dancer, probably because I would crush somebody's toes if I tried. I have no lessons or training. I am told that when an experienced dancer is joined with an inexperienced dancer, he will say, "Just relax and follow my lead". When it comes to following God, life is like a dance. We relax and follow His lead. When we need guidance in our daily affairs, important decisions, or matters of heart, we can just follow the Leader and trust Him to guide us in the right way.
At many points in his life, David was in need of guidance from the Lord. Psalm 5 is one specific prayer for guidance. David made it very clear, he desired God to lead him (verses 2,3,7,8). Can you imagine the magnitude of decisions that came David's way? The responsibility he felt was extreme. Like David, we all have responsibilities. We may not be ruler of an entire nation, but our lives are filled with responsibility.
Human are prone to errors both in judgment and choices. David recognized that only God has perfect judgment and never errs in His choices. Can you trust the choicest He had made for you? Psalm 5:11 says, "But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you". Trust is easy when things are going like we think they should. It is more difficult when life's road turns a direction we weren't planning.
Maybe today you are at a point in life where the road has taken you in a different direction than you were planning. Some of you might have lost a job, a friend, or a loved one. Perhaps others have lost someone who leaned heavily upon. When an unexpected event occurs in life, we are confronted with the responsibility of making decisions. Perhaps these are decisions we are not comfortable making, but they must be made nevertheless.
Psalms 5:8 says that it is God who must lead us. Set your heart to follow Him and Him alone. He never makes a bad choice. I love the words of Jesus in John 10:27-28, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand".
As a sheep following the Good Shepherd, we can live from fear. Fear paralyzes. Do not let fear intimate you. Declare that you will make the right choices today and everyday because God is leading you. Many blessings in life have been missed because someone was fearful or uncertain and consequently did nothing. God has called us to live a life of productivity and prosperity as we follow Him. Only He gives us the ability to be successful. Be sure He has your next success plan in life as you follow His lead.
Whenever you need guidance, remember to let Jesus lead you in the dance. Listen carefully for His voice and keep in step with Him.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the dance!
