Dress Code For Protestors / Bandh Agitators!!!
June 3, 2016
We have been witnessing the usual harassments and injustice from the inebriated and ruthless uneducated mob of frustrated angry-young-men of the nation.
It is deeply shocking to hear about the demise of a father in the hands of such hooligans prowling the streets of the valley.
The catapulting of stones to the Red Cross Society by the agitators clearly brings out the dogma and narrow-mindedness of this section of the society.
It is evident that we are living in an era of constant and astute change for which we either have to get along the band wagon or be wiped out from the face of the planet.
Hence I am not against the bandhs and agitations.
The reason for proposing a dress code for the protestors is to bring in a mindset of discipline and unity at the very outset.
It will also show a feeling of respect, solidarity and support to the cause.
There is no academic report on what I am about to reveal but even so nobody will deny the routine fact and reality that a massive bulk of the agitators will find their own convenient time of the day and come out in throngs, bellies protruded from yesterday's binge-drinking and also the ceremonial PEG-JAO with a pinch of salt and fermented fish to overcome the morning hangover.
Every protest is like mourning a close one's death. It should be non-violent and peaceful.
Compulsioning a Dress Code by the civil societies working for a better Manipur is the need of the hour and many to come.
I don't have to preach the annals of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King but is it not obvious that if we have to meet our demands then a peaceful form of protest is the best way ticket.
So why not propose a dress code for the protestors, especially menfolk?
Further discussions needed.
