Dr Shanta & Mr COVID

"COVID must be laughing".
I have a very bad habit of watching recorded news till I fall asleep. Many a times I was threatened at home for this.
I saw Dr Shanta in a couple of tv discussions on COVID; rendering his views about the pandemic he maintained that COVID is intelligent, smart , highly versatile, he must be laughing at us and so on.
The way he expressed his views was quite interesting - making his points in a lighter way without underestimating the imminent danger of COVID.
Even youngsters could enjoy the discussion without losing the seriousness of the issue.
Almost everyone thought that COVID dies out in the human body in 14 days but he told us that it can survive upto 37 days inside. It not only attacks lungs but also kidney, heart, intestine etc. It can further be transmitted from Mother to the child in her matrix.
Loss of smell or taste are also the signs of COVID infection. We only thought that dry cough , high fever , stomach problems etc are the symptoms of this new Corona virus ( COVID 19).
Latest information shared is that you can be infected by this virus without any symptoms. Asymtomatic patients will now be the biggest challenge all over.
According to his latest finds Dr Andy Tagg of Australia maintained that even fart may cause COVID spread. He expressed the danger of open farting in the time of Corona virus.
He said that farting especially without wearing clothes could lead to the spread of the virus. So, he advised people to follow social distancing protocol and not fart while being close to another person.
Asymptotic COVID carriers are going to be the real spreaders of the disease.
Virus does not move but people who carry them are moving here and there distributing the virus. That is way lockdowns and social distancing are important. Some experts are still saying that the lockdown must be extended further till we get the most desired result.
Buttering VIPs in full public view is normally done everywhere in the world. There is nothing wrong about that. Once I tried to butter a lady VVIP that time I had a bitter experience because there were many competitors, I mean many butterers.
Actually and factually I had a small packet of butter to butter(simply appreciating the Best Parliamentarian award ) whereas my competitors had barrels of butter in their disposal. There couldn't be any competition.
However fortunately the leader could smell the aroma of my butter, she new that my butter was sincerely made and genuinely meant for her.
Expressing gratitude to the Governor, Chief Minister, Union Health Minister including the Secretary, Jt Secretary , CSOs and also the Minister from Mao for helping the real COVID fighters can't be considered hypocrisy.
Acknowlegement of the services rendered by the leaders can't be trivelized. We all know how our leaders are combating this deadly virus day in and day out. I come to know that our CM ' s mobile phone is on 24 hours.
Dr Harsh Verdhan responds to phone calls even when he is in the toilet. We are not exaggerating things. Because our leaders have realised that the virus is too smart and we don't know when and where it will strike.
Forget about the language, English is not our mother tongue , just listen to the free and frank expression of RIMS Director. But the most heartfelt gratitude uttered by him was in favour of the healthworkers and Safai karmacharis.
In an ironical sense he also said that people have tremendously increased the respectability of COVID. Time to ignore him is yet to come, may be after some time.
The most unfortunate part of this COVID pandemic in this country is the ostracization of our Doctors, nurses , healthworkers and safaikarmacharis who are encountering the virus. They are being attacked or treated as untouchables.
The worse part was the doctor who died in Meghalaya could not get the right funeral rites or the doctor who died in Chennai was further attacked even after his dead.
My grandmother once told me that many of our relatives died of "Anna Achouba" ( perhaps Cholera ). People couldn't go to the graveyards due to the increasing number of deads in every locality.
Still a few people paid respect to those dead- bodies and always made an endeavour to give a respectable funeral to the departed. Whether we are still able to provide a respectable funeral to those who died of COVID.
WHO says we have to live with COVID for the time being. Till a cure is found there is no way out but to isolate it or keeping a distance. COVID is still laughing at us.
