Doctors and staff protest Ukhrul shooting

Normal service in Ukhrul district hospital was paralyzed for the second day Wednesday as doctors and staff of the government run healthcare centre opted to cease works until the culprit(s) behind the shooting of Dr Nelson be arrested and booked.
Dr Nelson, the medical officer of the Ukhrul district hospital was shot and injured in his right arm by unidentified miscreants on Monday night. He is currently undergoing treatment at hospital, Imphal.
The decision to go on for a work strike by the medical staff of the Ukhrul district was taken at an emergency general body meeting of the JAC (Medical Staffs of Ukhrul District) against the shooting of Dr C Nelson which was formed in the same meeting yesterday.
A six-point resolution passed in the meeting under the chair of the Dr Jimiking Jajo was also submitted to the Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner with a copy forwarded to the state health director for information and necessary action.
