Demise of Pou D. Dikambui
Tahamzam, 6th November, 2014
The United Naga Council mourns the sudden demise of Pou D. Dikambui, former President of the then Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) on 5th November, 2014.
Pou DiKambui provided effective leadership to the Zeliangrong people during his tenure and also contributed significantly in decision makings of the United Naga Council.
Even after demitting public office he continued to be source of encouragement and wise counsel to the Naga people. His death has left a big vacuum and is a great loss to the Zeliangrong people in particular and the Nagas in general.
May the Almighty grant the bereft family the grace to bear the great loss and enable them to find strength in the respectable and honourable legacy that he leaves behind.

Meeting and council assembly condemns the attempt of the Government of Manipur to usurp the homesteads and prime agricultural lands of Koijam Maring and Laiching Minou Maring villages and surrounding areas and to thereby deprive them of the means of livelihood and residence on the pretext of setting up a Sports University. While we do not oppose any initiatives to bring development and infrastructure by any agencies, we take strong exceptions to the disrespect of the ownership of the people over their land and when it will lead to rendering the villagers homeless and landless, and therefore without the only means of livelihood.
When there are so many other suitable sites for a sport university, insisting on the said area land in spite of protest by the people, both in written and civil actions, is a reflection of an ulterior and anti people motive on the part of the State Government.
