MNP demands Manipur CM to resign on fake encounter
MNP (Meitei Nationalist Party) questions the silence of both the Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh and President, BJP Manipur Th. Chouba Singh on the recent admission of proof on fake encounter by the Head Constable Herojit Singh of Manipur Police on CNN-IBN. The Founding President of MNP, B. Angousana Sharma, questions the legality and appropriateness of the serving S.P. (Superitendent of Police) Akoijam Jhalajit of Imphal West for his press release signed by him on a plain paper and circulated to the media without the approval of his senior officer such as DGP or Principal Secretary (Home) as he is an employee in Government of Manipur.
The party asks the SP on the necessity of such informal press release, which is not written on an official letter with an official seal, on the case which he himself claims to be sub judice in his own press release. Has any court asked the SP to explain on the admission of the Head Constable on the media? If yes, then, what has stopped the SP to explain it in the court room?
What has stopped the SP from filing a defamation suit, instead of releasing an informal letter signed by himself without the official seal of the office of SP, against Herojit Singh if the SP feels that his reputation has been tarnished in a society?
The party strongly demands Manipur Chief Minister to resign if he can not explain that who and what has made the SP to clarify in the press release all by himself. Why is the present CM quiet on the matter related to his tenure not only as a CM but also as the Home Minister?
MNP also questions BJP Manipur on why is the President of BJP Manipur quiet on the issue related to the then DGP Y. Joykumar who is now a member of BJP? BJP Manipur must explain the role of its member Y. Joykumar in the post-admission of Herojit Singh on CNN-IBN. If BJP Manipur fails to do it, then it only exposes the hypocrisy of BJP in Manipur.
