Delhi cops revive 'neighbourhood policing' to check racial crimes

Increase in crime against the people of Northeast origin in the city has reportedly forced the Delhi police to revive an old policing method. The force, which earlier used to involve locals as “special police officers” for patrolling in their neighbourhoods, has restarted the exercise.
This time, the locals involved in policing would be known as “representative officers.” More than 40 such officers belonging to the Northeast have been issued identity cards and assigned different responsibilities by the police.
