Dashanihey: Let The Child Not Mature Soon
Impact of Limited Entertainment Theory

A scene from Yaiskulgee Pakhang Angaoba

LEARNING from media environment though prevalent, is very untrue and hazardous sometimes if it confronts the value system, to an existing socio-politico-cultural environment. This is an agreeable point advocated by many mediaphiles and media-philologists. Many research findings have also put forward that many people plant, cultivate the false or distorted images, behavior and attitude, dialogue or speech, role-model unknowingly of what media portrays to them.

Many maha-media gurus have also analysed, 'Do media really affects the audience's perceptions of the real world'. Among others sociologist and psychologist, George Gerbner, a social-scientist has also theorized that regular and repeated exposure to media influences the audience to absorb it contents --- message, image or symbols …, and he termed it as 'cultivation of dominant image pattern'.

Closer to us, everyday our children cultivate different pattern of images that are shown in media, especially TV. They learn so many new things from the media environment, and strengthen their emotions, intelligence, reasoning from what they learn and apply in the real-life situations, an inherited second instinct.

And now, from what kind of TV programs our children watch everyday to entertain, recreate and refresh thier mind? No doubt, if vox pop, the peak percents of the answers would be two imported channel; Cartoon Network & Pogo. Nothing else we have here, the state's cinesphiles, film makers, seems ignored to fill-up this blank, and it seems they have 'no time' to think about the gratifying needs of our children that can entertains, educates and informs, a good film that would re-inforce the social value syterm, consience and morality.

Oftentimes due to limited entertainment for those nascent minds, and being fed up with watching chota Bhim and pogo, our children have now switched to video albums, films that are not fit for their eyes, ears and brains, etc. As a result of the limitation, some of them have even imitated the behavior shown in films, for instance buzzing phenomenal dialogue like 'DASHANIHEY', the other boy and girl studying in lower-class switched his hair and dressing styles like a US Pop prince, queen and king, like Justin Beiber, Rihana, Lilo Wayne, etc. etc.

Many college going students have thought that there's high possibility of happening like "Basantagi Nongal Lamdai", a film that confronts a unique value system of student-teacher relationship where the student proposes the teacher, and his beautiful ma'em later fall in love with him. It really confronts the millions, like mine, coz' we thought and worship our teacher, whosoever, as a visible God.

This is really 'Dashanihey'. Due to limited entertainment horizon in our state; the nascent minds are going to get mature soon. Though the Bollywood and Hollywood and others 'wood' tops in entertaining the audiences by inserting items numbers and slots with no holds bar, it has many holes and loop-holes which means that the most of its content aren't fit for the little eyes and ears coz' not so holy for our children. Exposing to those -'woods' meant for adults, would be vulnerable in latter times for those nascent minds, as it has the potent ability to make our children's mentality mature instantly.

Not most, but majority of their elements and component are somewhat hazardous and it would boost them to adult mentality very soon, as it is not a supplementary health drinks or food. That's why there are things called children films, cartoon animations operas and fiction, and censorship authorities to certify films and to grade them with symbols indicating for whose audience's it was made for and advising who aren't fit to watch.

Coming closer to our family affairs, what do we have to relax after heavy-duty and day-in-and-out activities? No Doubt, to entertain ourselves, we breathlessly watch Manipur films, and then we supplemented with another item called music video albums produced by many overnight productions centers, which is trending. Though new, this trade is improving. We can also see the appreciative tricks and creative output of the both trained and untrained enthusiasts and we should appreciate for the contribution to entertain us and their struggles to survive within limited market provision.

But the issue is not market and production quality but the content. What sense the album is trying to make, by its strong visuals depiction of two minor looking talents with school uniforms in romancing mode, in School Uniform with Bags? Two minors in full make-up? What messages it might be giving to the school going children, what the teacher and their parents might be feeling?

Its fun that music VDO albums are trending, and Maninglom Choaba and Thoibi have also become small time stars waiting to twinkle on Purnima, but there is a thing called sensitivity. The place we live in is very sensitive, in term of everything. So, handing the subject delicately is also crucial because, if not, it may invite to born a censorship body that can write the pre-mature obituaries before bearing the fruits. Hey Album! Media is Powerful, more powerful than the big fantasy of a film director, there's a word called 'Impact' which can be analyzed in term of degree.

It's unfortunate that we live inside a territory of a limited world which is very limited in terms of everything, in all spheres. Limited resources and support, limited subject experts to guide and to fill-up the blanks, limited schools to excel on specialized topics, limited opportunity to earn, grow and glow-up, limited institutional platforms to showcase the un-shown talents, and the most unsaid one 'limited entertainment'.

Hey kids, you are very unfortunate that our cine-theaters don't show films of yours type in holidays at nominal cost, even the state authority doesn't have the interest to show your suitable films in a regular schedule like developed places of the world. Sorry, we don't have producer and director that can invest efforts for you. But, let's press the Kabui Kei Oiba's Team to go ahead, as genuinely they deserved more medals, as they are the only one that understand your pulse. Let's say Kudos to them, even if the film people and places, and the rest of the other people you can count on are just funny figures. But Kids, all I can say now is;
Grow old with Star TV,
Go sing gal with Mtv,
Go tina-mina, dance like music album.
Go mature kids, mature soon with those …TV

In a press note today, the Association explained that the move is because of the changing role and system of class-wars and suggested that it would be good to invent a gizmo that can divide the lines between many class
