Cry Of A Dying River...74
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that was not too long ago a river of fresh water
Freshwater that constitute only three percent of Earth's water
Freshwater that is needed by all landbased life
Freshwater that is home to many animals mammals and reptiles
Freshwater that is home to forty percent of all fish species
Freshwater that provides a rich habitat for a variety of birds
The river that no longer carries freshwater
Where have all the freshwater gone!!
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that was a rich source of freshwater
A flowing natural reservoir of freshwater for river inhabitants
The river that was a hunting ground for many birds
Birds snatching small fishes from the water
What a sight! What a spectacle!
'Ngaraakpi" - the colourful inhabitant of Nambul
Where have all the birds gone
Where have all the aquatic freshwater plants gone
HOW FRESH IS THE FRESHWATER OF THE LARGEST FRESHWATER LAKE???
