Cry Of A Dying River...63
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that flows in the LAND of 'Smart City'
A city where citizens have no access to potable drinking water
A city which has no hygienic sewage treatment
A city adorned by garbage at public places
A city of vendors at public lanes
A city where private vehicles park at public spaces
A city where every citizen has his/her own sets of traffic rules
A city where law enforcers become law breakers
A city called IMPHAL ! A Smart City indeed.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that flows in a city so smart
Outsmarted by citizens extraordinary
Exemplified by the transformation of Nambul
Into a PUBLIC TOILET BOWL
The river that never condones State's apathy
Towards the cause of keeping river(s) clean and eco-friendly
The river that questions citizens' penchant for rights sans responsibilities
Oh dear citizens! Rights without Responsibilities!
Outright selfish self-centered and MEANINGLESS.
