Cry Of A Dying River - 5
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The gentle river that never protested
The steady river that never complained
The silent river that absorbed all the sins
And crimes committed by inhuman humans
The all-enduring river that never slept
The ever-smiling river that never wept
The methodical river that signalled ceaselessly
The dawn of every single new day
Oh creatures of the earth! how have had you treated me!
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that was/is ever giver and never the taker
The river that never asked for anything in return
The river that was/is patience personified
The river that was/is living witness to
Acts of terror and terrorism
Telling tales of forced widows
Oh lord of the land! I am in protest mode
Oh people! past master of protests
This Is My Poetry Of Protest.
