Cry Of A Dying River...43
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that was a different river
In a different era of early Kanglei history
The river that was bigger healthier cleaner
Flowing with bluish crystalline water
Unadulterated unconstrained unfettered unhindered
Free from pollution in sync with natural environment
The river that was a stranger to plastics
The river that was/is a dear child of nature
Left in the lurch by urban dwellers.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that has been orphaned
By the State in its relentless agenda of 'urban development'
By the people in their personal pursuit of greed and comforts
The river that has been a victim of "urbanism"
The river that has been left 'high and dry'
By 'city fathers' whose comprehension ends with biology
By 'town planners' who plan 'development' for development's sake
By 'overnight social workers' who are everything but social
What is in a river! A small rivulet!!!
