Cry Of A Dying River...35
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river whose history Is shrouded in obscurity
Obscured by ignorance indifference and lackadaisical attitudes
The river whose story of untold stories lives
And lingers on in a small pool of memory
Memories if not shared passed on and worded
Fade away from generations after generations
There will he nothing left no evidence to tell your children
There once flowed through the middle of Imphal Vale
A river by the name of Sambul
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that was not too long ago a waterway
A navigable channel between Imphal and Loktak
A watercourse wrecked by people's penchant far plastics
Plastics that plays spoilsport with natural stream
Plastics that Is percious to Earth's existence
The river that can be restored to its pristine beauty
The river that can be made an 'Express Highway'
The river that can serve as precursor to 'water tourism'
If only . ..if only the riverine ecology is made NO PLASTIC ZONE.
