Cry Of A Dying River...24
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that was full of fun and merry making
The river that played host to a host of children
Children of all ages and creed
Playing flying kites and 'Nungshit Pubi' with ingenuity
Along the luscious green fields by the river banks
The river that never had enough
Of the sanguine sound of children’s laughter
Oh children of the fertile land!!
Where have all those pearl of laughter gone? ??
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that laments for all the children
No longer seen in the open playing field
Hooked in the world of 'virtual reality'
Children who have lost for reasons not known to them
The joy of reading books and magazines
The pleasure of flipping through the pages
The charm of getting lost in the world of poetry
The river that bemoans dying of a culture
Culture of "the three R-s".
