Cry Of A Dying River...23
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that wonders many a times
Sans any reason and rhyme. ..
What if no river flows through the valley
What if no fresh water pours down the Loktak
What if the cityscape is devoid of rivers
What if no riverine ecosystem exists in the land
What if the valley is transformed into a wasteland
The river that never ceases to wonder
Oh wonderland!! thy name is Kangleipak.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that has eyes but could not see
Eyes that never lies but had been lied upon
The river that has ears but could not hear
Ears that never trusts hearsay but the truth
The river that has a voice but never heard
A voice that voices the voice of voiceless
The river that has a sensitive mind
As opposed to and different from the greedy mind of man
THE RIVER THAT LOVES MANKIND BUT HATES MAN.
