Cry Of A Dying River...22
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that is choking to death on its polluted water
The mineral-laden water polluted by polluted minds/hands
The river that is poisoned by…
The criminal negligence of the State
The monumental apathy of the powers-that-be
The short-sighted destruction of natural wealth
The plain ignorance about environmental degradation
The river that is sandwiched between 'development-environment conflict'
A supposedly-antagonistic conflict.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that learns to live with conflicts
The river that sings no more
The song of waving waves
The song of environmental harmony
The song of meandering water
The river that yearns for grandma's Naoshum-Eshei
The song of tranquillity!! that soothing sound of music
Bless me Oh Wangbren! Lord of the river
Let me sing my song of solitude.
