AIM
The course provides an opportunity to the participants to go through a rigorous and interactive exercise on understanding various qualitative and quantitative methods and tools in labour research. It aims at capacity building of young researchers in the area of social research, giving special focus on labour studies.
OBJECTIVES
• To highlight various labour and employment issues.
• To equip participants with various qualitative and quantitative research tools used in labour research.
• To appraise the major sources of data on labour.
• To familiarise with major statistical packages used in labour research.
COURSE PROFILE
Overview of Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Labour Research; Data Sources on labour and using NSSO Data; Econometric and Quantitative Tools; and Basic Statistical packages.
METHODOLOGY
Lectures, Discussions, Presentations & Interactive Sessions. Participants should prepare a research proposal and make a presentation during the course.

The Institute’s campus is situated near PRAKASH Hospital and NTPC Ltd. and is at a distance of 20 Kms from New Delhi Railway Station. The nearest metro station to the Institute is NOIDA City Centre. NOIDA is situated at Delhi border in close proximity to Mayur Vihar, Delhi.
STAY ARRANGEMENT
Stay arrangement will be made in the hostel of V.V. Giri National Labour Institute on twin-sharing basis. The boarding and lodging will be provided by the Institute from the afternoon of March 11, 2012 till the forenoon of March 17, 2012. For extended stay or early arrival, lodging & boarding charges would be borne by the participants. PROGRAMME FEE

TRAVELLING EXPENSES
1. No fee is charged from the participants.
2. The participants are paid Second Class sleeper Train/Bus fare from their place of work to NOIDA and back by shortest route on production of ticket or a photocopy of ticket.
3. The incidental expenditure during the travel and local conveyances will be reimbursed. However the same would be restricted to the actual expenditure incurred or Rs. 750/- whichever is less.
4. The participants are provided free of cost boarding and lodging only for the duration of the programme.
Note:
1. Participants are requested to book their return ticket in advance from their own place.
2. Under no-circumstance other than IInd class ordinary train fare will be entertained

The training programme will commence at 10.00 a.m. on March 12, 2012 and will conclude in the afternoon on March 16, 2012.
