Consultative Meet on Human Trafficking Issue at Moreh on 23 August 2016
The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in partnership with the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) organized a “CONSULTATIVE MEET
AND CAMPAIGN (POSTER, HOARDING & RALLY) ON “HUMAN TRAFFICKING ISSUEIDENTIFICATION AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES” at Moreh on 21st August, 2016.
As part of the campaign, a rally was organized in the morning of 21st August, 2016 at 09:00 am. The Campaign was flag off by RK. Memcha Devi (Member Secretary, MASLSA)
in the presence of S. Saratkumar Sharma (MCPCR Chairperson) and other dignitaries from Ima Khundong Lairembi Sanglen upto Moreh police station via Moreh market.
Around 400 women, youths and school children took part in the rally. The participants include Judiciary officials, MCPCR Officials, various state departments, School children
and Voluntary organizations. After the rally, the participants assembled at above Sanglen and delivered speech on Child Trafficking by the Judges and MCPCR in presents
of the Hon’ble Justice N. Kotiswar Singh (Manipur High Court).

A Consultative meet was organized on “Human Trafficking Issues-Identification and Preventive Measures” chaired by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Kotiswar Singh (Judge, High
Court of Manipur) and Executive Chairman, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) with the representative of Social Welfare, Police, Law, Education, Transport,
SP Chandel/Thoubal, Health, DIPR, Assam Rifles, ADM Moreh, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), CWC’s/JJB’s and representatives of NGO’s.
Each Department’s representatives highlighted their roles in prevention and care of the Trafficking and also their activities. Hon’ble Justice also highlighted urgent intervention about the problems to tackle trafficking in the state with active coordination with all stakeholders. He further desire to conduct such awareness campaigns at the grass root level at Moreh, Churachandpur and Seanpati where cases of trafficking are reported very high.
In the concluding remark, Shri S. Saratkumar Sharma (Chairperson, MCPCR) highlighted understanding the concept and role of various stakeholders. After hearing views of the
various stakeholders, the meeting unanimously adopted the following action points proposed by the Chairperson, MCPCR (a) Prevention, (b) Protection, (c) Prosecution and (d) Rehabilitation for which all stakeholders need to prepare Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to tackle the Trafficking problem in the State.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks to the chair.
