Conference : Emerging Horizons in India-Vietnam Relations
Date: 3-4 July, 2017
Nehru Memorial Museum and Library in association with Southeast Asia Research Group and Zakir Husain Delhi College, University of Delhi is organizing a two day International Conference on Emerging Horizons in India-Vietnam Relations on 3-4 July, 2017 commemorating 45th anniversary of the India-Vietnam diplomatic relations. Conference is scheduled from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm on both days in the Seminar Room at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Teen Murti Bhawan, New Delhi.
Given the context of cultural, historical linkages, geo-strategic paradigm and the forces shaping the emerging horizons of India-Vietnam relations, the two day International Conference seeks to deliberate upon the internal political dynamics of Vietnam and the factors determining its foreign policy orientations vis-à-vis the ‘Great Powers’ in the region and its engagement with India. In this regard, panelists during each session of the Conference would be discussing various critical issues and policy paralysis facing the relationship between both the countries today.
The Inaugural Session of the Conference would be graced by the kind presence of Shri Ram Madhav, National General Secretary, BJP who would deliver the Inaugural Address. Shri Shakti Sinha, Director, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library would be initiating the discussion with a Welcome address followed by Opening Remarks by Amb. Ton Sinn Thanh, Ambassador of Vietnam. Other dignitaries present on the occasion would be Amb. Rajiv Bhatia, Former Diplomat and Distinguished Fellow, Gateway House and Amb. Nalin Surie, Director General, Indian Council of World Affairs.
This would be followed by two day of interactive Working Sessions on various sub-themes of the Conference. Around 50 delegates from Vietnam, Singapore and other parts of India including New Delhi would be participating in these brainstorming Sessions for two days on 3-4 July 2017. The Conference proposes to provide a platform for dialogue and an interface between the policy makers, researchers and academics for looking into the future and emerging dynamics in India-Vietnam relations.
