Condolence Message on the demise of Professor M. Horam
26th April 2019
The news of the demise of Professor M. Horam, the pioneer of scholarship and academics among Nagas and one of the tallest doyens among the Naga scholars, fills our hearts with sadness and tears. His demise is undeniably a great loss for the academic world, especially Nagas.
For Tangkhul scholars, Professor Horam’s demise is no less than the death of a father-figure and the fall of a knowledge tree under the shade of which they take refuge.
The Tangkhul Scholars’ Association (TSA) expresses a heartfelt condolence and shares with the bereaved family the agony of loss it endures.
At this moment of pain and sorrow, the Tangkhul Scholars’ Association (TSA) would like to proudly declare that Professor Horam had lived a respectable professional life leaving his footprints with invaluable scholarly and pioneering works as (besides articles in reputed journals and edited books, co-authored books)
o Naga Polity (1975),
o Nagas Old Ways and New Trends (1975),
o Social and cultural Life of Nagas - The Tangkhul Nagas (1977),
o Naga Insurgency: The Last Thirty Years (1988),
o The Rising Manipur - Including Other North Eastern States (2000) and
o North East India: A Profile (2003).
Thank you Professor for the path to the world you have created for our people and for the invaluable treasures you have left for posterity.
Life is a blend of happiness, joy, love, smiles, pains, tears, sorrows, fame and memories. The tears will dry, the smile, happiness and joy will fade, fame will die in time and the love will be consumed by separation, but memories will live on forever.
Professor Horam is gone from our sight, but memories about him and the impressions he has left behind will live on with us. Professor Horam is gone from our touch, but he lives, and will live, in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with the loving family that Professor Horam has left behind.
Farewell Professor!
May Your Soul Rest in Peace!
