Condemns communal violence in Tripura
NEFIS STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE COMMUNAL VIOLENCE IN TRIPURA!
PARTICIPATES IN PROTEST DEMONSTRATION AT TRIPURA BHAWAN, DELHI!
DEMANDS RESIGNATION OF TRIPURA CM BIPLAB KUMAR DEB, AND STRICTEST ACTION AGAINST CRIMINAL COMMUNAL ELEMENTS!
North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) activists today participated in a protest demonstration at Tripura Bhawan in Delhi against the recent communal violence in Tripura. The activists were detained and taken to Mandir Marg Police Station.
It should be noted that in recent days, communal violence has rocked the North-eastern state of Tripura, with the elements close to the ruling BJP government responsible for arson and violence on the Muslim minority community.
The violence, it has been claimed, has broken out due to the violence on the minority Hindu community in neighbouring Bangladesh. Such an excuse only serves to hide the conspicuous role of the BJP and its government which has actively promoted communalism in the state in order to reap political dividends.
NEFIS demands immediate resignation of Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb for failing in his duty to stop communal violence and provide security to the minority community. The organization also demands that a probe must be conducted by an independent panel and the nexus between the police, the criminal communal elements and the state government should be brought to light.
Also, strictest punishment must be ensured for the guilty as well as the civil and police personnel conniving with them.
