Concern over meetings between Chinese agencies, NE ultras
Assam Tribune | R Dutta Choudhury | Guwahati, Oct 20 -
In a disturbing trend, the frequency of meetings between the Chinese agencies and militant groups of the North East has increased in recent months. The Government of India is closely monitoring the situation. The Indian security agencies are also of the view that the Chinese agencies are facilitating the insurgent groups to procure weapons.Highly placed sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) told The Assam Tribune that China never wanted the North East region of India to become peaceful and that is why, the agencies of the neighbouring country are trying to increase their influence over the militant groups of the region.
Sources said that India has definite information about the recent meetings between the Chinese agencies and members of militant groups of the North East. Most of the meetings have taken place in Ruili and Kunming.
