Respected Madam President,
I would like to wish you a very happy Diwali. The festival of happiness and light which brings joy to every family in the country both rich and poor.
Madam, in my home state Manipur this festival comes with another of the most important local festival Ningol Chakouba where brothers host a lunch for their married sisters and give them gifts.
I feel very strongly that you have been apprised of the current scenario in my home state. Without a doubt of it i would like to express my graveness on behalf of my people as a common man, that this year when the whole country is celebrating we have nothing to be happy about since we are currently facing man made price hike.
Madam last year too we have faced the same issue on which i had written expressing concern for the common man: the letter Registration Number : PRSEC/E/2010/09088 can be recalled.
Madam, It seems the government is doing nothing to control such issues during Diwali petrol was sold at Rs 120 which today is sold at Rs 170.
I am very optimistic that you will be surprised to know cooking gas prices are at Rs 2100/ cylinder.
Yes, the petrol pumps are sometimes open but people have to spend the whole night to get few litres of petrol.
I wonder how are we to survive in such a scenario and how long. The government is just looking at it and waiting even when onion prices reach Rs 50 to Rs 70/Kg.
Madam it is my sincere request to yourself, you being the first citizen of the country please advise us if this is what we get from our constitution our government which we have elected.
I would like to know if the common man in our state is still enjoying right to life, right to speech and all other constitutional rights for which we have elected this government.
Madam I believe that this is the time the highest authority should act since we no longer feel that we are free citizens. People here are so stressed because of the artificial price hike and the amount they are spending to survive.
If such a situation goes on for long there will be a time when the people will act on themselves which will put us into massive lost.
My sincere request to yourself that we look forward to your kind intervention in the current impasse in Manipur where the actual sufferer is the common Man who earns the daily living by way of daily wages.
Looking forward to a positive response,
Shanta Singh Nahakpam
Yaiskul Imphal
