Territorial Integrity more important than internal dispute Comment on "Status of Manipuris in Delhi" |
By: Samson H * |
To some extent I agree with our great contributor L. Robindro. We face this social trauma of several manipuri girls getting married/having affair with 'mayangs ' . Now the question is can we blame only the manipuri female? I feel such a situation arises as the number of eligible manipuri bachelors are quite low. Which manipuri girl doesn't want to get married to a responsible/eligible manipuri guy. Let's consider an example: A manipuri girl struggled hard to become a manager/employee of a MNC (Multi national Company). Now when She decided to get married, how many eligible manipuri bachelor she will get. I don't mean she should get married to a manipuri manager but she would prefer someone in similar level . Finally she has to marry a 'mayang'. Another point is they don't have much exposure as there is less or no matrimonial media for manipuris . And we can't target the women to lift up the ruining face of our society! We guys have to take initiative. Let's do something to improve our education system to produce more eligible bachelor . Then let's see how many manipuri girls will go to 'mayangs'. I do agree that there are some black sheep in the society. We can't do anything with them but we can take up some preventive action for future generations . As the saying goes " misumang sit-tringeida nagni sumang hanna sitlu " , let's first check our own families . I am sure 90% of these problems will be solved if every one of us takes responsibility and check our own brother and sisters . And what percentage of manipuri population check this website. I would suggest some of these articles to be published in our local newspapers at imphal to bring awareness to the parents of those Students studying outside. Another point I would like to put forward is that inter caste/racial marriages are there everywhere .........and it affects only a fraction of our society. Now we have a bigger threat to Manipur.. which will affect the whole Manipuris and that is "Territorial integrity of Manipur " I have been following it with the newspaper and other sources for sometime. Referring to the article at e-pao "What ails Manipur?" by Lt Col. H. Bhuban Singh , The Nagalim agenda has international support. There are now established platforms known as Naga International Support Centres at London, the Hague, Cologne, and recently Berlin too. American Baptist Church, Atlanta is active for Naga cause. Washington has Carter Institute of Emery studies. Please check the details in the article itself. More details are given at http://www.northeastvigil.in and many other websites. The 'great June uprising' in Manipur was a direct fallout of the previous National Democratic Alliance government's declaration of the extension of the ceasefire with the National Socialist Council of Nagalim - Isaac-Muivah (NSCN-IM) in 2001, without territorial limits and beyond Nagaland, which was seen as a prelude to conceding the rebel group's demand for integration of the Naga-inhabited areas of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, including the four Naga-inhabited hill districts of Manipur that account for two-thirds of the territory of the troubled State. The bottom line is that instead of us fighting over some internal dispute, let's all unite, fight and save our manipuri race . Just imagine manipur left out with only approx 1000 square miles. Just imagine the end of Meitei race. Let's pray that one day we wont be roaming like "Tibetan refugees " demanding for our rights. Let's all spread this awareness.
