City lights
Rashmi Elangbam *
Beyond the road
Beyond the highway
lies a little sweet place
that's filled with sunshine, love and warmth
Away from the crowd
Away from the noise
It's a sweet little place
filled with sweet smelling ivory
Sweet smelling ivory that fills an entire field
a short walk down the field
gives you a glimpse of heaven
the flowers as it's angels
the bees as its visitors
but then again so was I
It welcomed me with it's sweet fragrance
The cheerful sun rose bright
oh what a sweet company it was
Suddenly I saw a faithful meeting
of the sun and the moon
oh how the sky calmed
And from there I saw
Pink , blue , yellow lights
moving slowly, calmly and steadily
It was a weird sight
for I neither loved the crowd nor the noise
How calm it was from up here
a magnificent kingdom indeed
The sun and the moon
Still and calm
Bright and blessed
stared at each other
as every second went by
soon they bid goodbye
and with one last look
darkness spread
all over the city, the ivory filed
and even deep inside my heart
and no longer there was the sun or the moon
no longer did the ivories bloomed.
