Since the last 18 years, Chirom Indira has been working in the field of Handloom. And she is working very hard to promote Manipuri handlooms products (traditional touch designs) for national and international markets.
Recently she developed a sample of hand towel for Lee & Fung. She is trying hard to create a space in the international markets for Manipuri handlooms products. She is presently exporting to Israel ( Manipuri Talit) Manipuri Hand Woven Fabrics and Home Furnishings made-ups to Panama City.
Chirom Indira has been working working since 1994 and has visited U.K, Greece, Denmark, German, Austria, France for business promotion.
Since 2003, she was set up a small export company with her husband (also DHT-IIHT-GHY) in the name of Chanu Creations. She wanted to do something for the betterment of our Manipur specially in handloom sector. She participated in many International Textiles fair for promoting Manipuri Hnadloom Products like Tex Trends, IHGF-Greater Noida etc.
She is also a member of "Sub Group On North Eastern Region", under Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, a member of Textiles Sectorial Innovation Council, under Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Executive member Handlooms Promotion Council, Manipur etc.
She said "I face many problems both financially & mentally to come up in this stage. But I'll never give up until and unless I can offer a small space of our Manipuri Handlooms products for International Markets. We also can introduce ourself as a Manipuri by this (handloom)sector to the people of world by maintaining our very traditional handlooms designs".

All the above pictures are from Hasthkala Conclave (A one day innovation in Textiles) which was held on 17 August 2012 at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi organised by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Chief Guest by Union Minister Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce, Industries & Textiles, Govt. of India.
Most Officers of these Handlooms & Handicrafts sectors , Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India & Corporate sectors were also present the occasion.
The main theme is to promote and maintain the quality of our handlooms & handicrafts products for various purposes. Chirom Indira represents in the theme of "Tribal Textiles Of North East".
